More than 300 patients availed of free medical, dental, optometry services and medicines in a medical mission in Barangay Patao, Bantayan on Feburary 26, 2017.

The mission was supported by the ZFT, a group of stock market traders, who wanted to share their kindness to the least fortunate of our brothers and sisters. The medical and dental team was composed of Dr. Frances Eden Albaran, Dr. Kristina Burburan, Dr. MarzeSerate, Dr. Mark Lim, and Dr. JaysilTancanwanValiente. Documentation was done by Andrew Pamorada and FevinCastillon. VPHCS physician Dr. Erlinda Posadas, nurse Irish Grace Ramirez and staff Juliet Abing facilitated the activity together with the Patao Drivers and Fisherfolks Association (PADFA).

Beneficiaries were residents in the barangay who were very thankful for the services since their barangay is very far from the Bantayan rural health unit.

Services in the medical mission included medical consultations, blood sugar testing for diabetes screening, visual acuity check-up, dental check up and tooth extraction, urinalysis and giving of reading glasses.

All patients were properly given medicines bought with funds from the ZFT group and solicited from kind benefactors.

In general, the mission was indeed successful and the patients expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the team. For the team members, it was also a meaningful experience for them to have served the poor residents in the barangay who are continuing to strive hard to live a decent life after the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda.
