The community health workers (CHWs) in the four project areas applied the health knowledge and skills that they acquired in the basic health skills trainings in December 2023. They have been rendering services to the members of their associations and the non-members in their communities until the present. By conducting blood pressure checks and weighing before monthly meetings, CHWs help members identify any potential health issues early on. This proactive approach allows for timely intervention and management of conditions such as hypertension and malnutrition. Weighing children to identify malnutrition is crucial for early intervention and ensuring proper growth and development. CHWs play a vital role in identifying at-risk children and facilitating necessary support and interventions.

The preparation of herbal remedies by CHWs, such as lagundi syrup for cough and herbal liniments for various ailments, provides accessible and affordable healthcare options to community members. These remedies can alleviate symptoms and promote healing, especially in areas where conventional medicine may be scarce or expensive.

Ventusa or cupping therapy for back pain offers an alternative treatment option for community members, particularly those engaged in physically demanding work. CHWs not only administer these therapies but also educate others on their benefits, empowering the community to take charge of their health.

Informal discussions led by trained CHWs on common illnesses help increase health literacy within the community. By providing accurate information and practical advice, CHWs empower community members to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Organizing weekly feeding programs for children demonstrates a commitment to addressing nutritional needs within the community. By ensuring that children have access to nutritious meals, CHWs contribute to their overall health and well-being.
