A focus group discussion – post training monitoring for youth leaders of  San Remigio   was conducted last January 16, 2021 at the San Remigio Municipal Social Hall covered court.

Nineteen youth leaders attended the activity. Sixteen of them were officers of the Sangguniang Kabataan either councilors, treasurers, secretaries or chairpersons. Three of them were officers of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT).

As a background, the youth play an essential role together with the BHERTs, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars and other sectors in community-based COVID-19 response. A training for youth leaders was conducted last November 6, 2020 on hygiene care and hygiene promotion. It is very important in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic so that increased awareness of the youth leaders on it can pave way for more active involvement of the youth sector in community-based COVID-19 response in their communities.  Since the training, they were expected to apply what they had learned during the training and it was important to evaluate how they had done so.

The youth leaders said that they view as very important the practice of keeping themselves, their homes and their environment clean. They practice the health protocols, proper garbage disposal, sweeping the floor in their houses, and proper food preparations. They also try their best to disseminate information on personal hygiene and environmental sanitation among their friends through the social media. The BIDA kits that they received from ReachHealth were distributed to other youth members in their communities and they were very thankful for it. They also said that they will continue to promote hygiene in their communities and among their fellow youth.

The youth leaders said they will continue to practice personal hygiene and cleanliness in their homes and communities.
