Project orientation held

The Visayas Primary Healthcare Services, Inc. conducted a project orientation for members of the people’s organizations in Barangay Malingin, Daanbantayan and in Barangay Dalingding Sur in Medellin on February 3, 2019. Another orientation was held for members of the people’s organizations in Barangays Antipolo and Mahawak in Medellin on February 10, 2019.

The project is the health component of the project, “Integrated Community-based Livelihood Project for Typhoon Yolanda Survivors in Medellin and Daanbantayan, Cebu” in eight impoverished mountain barangays in the two municipalities which is funded by Caritas Austria. It is a social development implemented by the Cebu-Bohol Relief and Rehabilitation Center (CRRC) which provides livelihood projects and social services to the residents in the barangays.

The following are the people’s organizations, namely: Nagkahiusang Mag-uuma sa Malingin (NAMAGMA) or the United Farmers in Malingin, Nagkahiusang Lumulupyo sa Beberly (NALUBE) or the United Residents in Beberly in Antipolo, Nagkahiusang Mag-uuma sa Tunga, Dalingling Sur, or the United Farmers in Tunga, Dalingding Sur, and Nipa Rural Workers’ Association (NIRUWA) in Nipa, Mahawak.

The project orientation conducted by the VPHCS staff introduced the residents to the project which consists of a series of basic health skills trainings that shall provide their community health skills with knowledge and skills to render basic promotive, preventive and selective curative care. A series of health education gatherings shall also be conducted regularly to disseminate health information on common diseases and health issues. With the knowledge and skills learned, the CHWs are expected to render health services to their community residents and improve their health conditions.

The people’s organizations welcomed the project.
