The second year of the project 2024 will promote food security among the residents through development of livelihood programs in the communities. Their existing impoverished state and being deprived of savings of money for emergency use gravely deters them to cope with the extreme need for food after a disaster while waiting for outside relief assistance. Thus, the need for community livelihood projects to earn them additional income.
The livelihood committee of each people’s organization (PO) will first be trained on Asset-based Community Development (ABCD) which will identify potential community assets which can be maximized and developed for livelihood projects and used as a material in making project proposals for livelihood projects that they will endorse to their PO to be funded by small project grants.
The second training of the livelihood committee will be a Training on Feasibility Study and Proposal Making for a livelihood project. The training shall come up with a project feasibility study and a proposal and project policies and implementing guidelines. The proposal shall then be submitted to the VPHCS management committee who will in turn assist the PO in looking for resources for funding of the project.
A third training will be a Training on Project Development and Management which will enhance their understanding of the basic principles on project development and management and enable them to review and assess the project policies and implementing guidelines. As a result, they shall conduct information dissemination about the project policies and implementing guidelines to the rest of the PO members.
The third training is on Finance Management for the PO members to enhance their understanding of basic principles on finance management. As a result, the POs shall have established their books of accounts and simple accounting system.
The seminars for the livelihood projects will have as the resource persons the staff of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente – Visayas Mindanao Regional Office for Development (IFI-VIMROD) which is a partner non-government organization of the VPHCS and has the expertise.
The VPHCS shall then assist the people’s organizations in looking for resources for the asset-based livelihood projects which they shall implement.
