The Visayas Primary Healthcare Services was invited by Hauz Hayag to talk on personal hygiene to more than 100 scholars in its office in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City last February 22, 2020.
VPHCS Physician Dr. Erlinda Posadas discussed about simple personal hygiene, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) during emergencies, the effects of lack of WASH on nutrition, and importance of maintaining good hygiene to prevent diseases. She also shared to the scholars about the importance of a balanced diet and the food pyramid to keep oneself healthy and boost the immune system.
The talk was important in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic where personal hygiene such as washing our hands, cough etiquette, disinfection and social distancing are crucial measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
