Training for Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars of San Remigio, Cebu

A total of 41 barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) attended a training at the San Remigio Cultural Center and Leisure on October 20, 2020.

The training is part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ReachHealth Project administered by the RTI International to provide technical assistance to the Local Government Units (LGUs) of San Remigio, Tabuelan, Bogo City and Medellin, to implement various capacity-building activities to support community-based COVID-19 response to delay, contain the transmission of COVID-19, and mitigate the effects of the pandemic in their localities.

The training was organized by the Visayas Primary Healthcare Services, Inc. (VPHCS) which implements the COVID-19 response project.

The topics included infection prevention and control (IPC) which was discussed by Jerhald Agcang, followed by the topic water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) by Lourdes Geolin, and gender-based violence (GBV) by Irish Grace Ramirez.  The three resource persons are all VPHCS staff members working in the project.

The VPHCS coordinated with the San Remigio Rural Health Unit to organize the activity.
