The Visayas Primary Healthcare Services, Inc., received its new License to Operate as a Social Welfare and Development Agency (SWDA) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Region 7 on August 2, 2024.

The Certificate was awarded after the VPHCS had satisfactorily complied with the licensing requirements to operate as an SWDA pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 17, Series of 2018.

The VPHCS, as an SWDA, has the legal authority to operate as a Resource Agency and implement the programs and services covered by the license. The license to operate is valid for three years from August 2, 2024 to August 3, 2027.

The VPHCS had received its Certificate of Registration as a SWDA on September 5, 2023. Both certificates were issued after the prior certificates had expired.

Being recognized as a SWDA by the DSWD offers several advantages for the VPHCS. Official recognition enhances the organization’s credibility, making it more trustworthy in the eyes of beneficiaries, donors, and the community. Registered NGOs often have better access to government grants, funding opportunities, and support from international donors who prefer working with recognized entities.

The recognition can facilitate partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders in the social development sector. The VPHCS is a member of the Area-based Standards Network (ABSNET). Recognition allows the organization to operate various social welfare programs and services more effectively, often making it eligible for government projects. Furthermore, the recognition increases the VPHCS visibility in the community and among stakeholders, helping to raise awareness about its mission and services.

Furthermore, a recognized status can attract more volunteers and skilled professionals who are looking to contribute to reputable organizations.
Overall, the DSWD recognition can significantly enhance the VPHCS operational capacity, impact, and sustainability in the social development landscape.
